Planting shade trees especially on the south side of your house, is a great ways to save energy and help the environment by keeping the sun’s heat out of your home. For best results, plant deciduous trees – since their leaves will fall off during the winter, they serve the double purpose of keeping your home shady and cool in the summer and letting in the warming rays of the sun during the winter.
When planting shade trees, make sure you find ones with non-aggressive root systems. Otherwise, you run the risk of planting something in your yard that could wreak havoc on your plumbing system!
